Next we went to the Michie Tavern. Great food from what I could smell and the sample of chicken I got.

Here is the tavern .
Next we travelled to Ash Lawn Highland. Home of James Monroe. There were a couple of rambunctious 2,5 and 8 year boys on this tour with us.

Last stop my favorite Montplier -I think I have had some Dolley Madison cupcakes some time. This is the home of James and Dolley Madison.
It started out as a small house when his father owned it but when James and Dolley owned it they added on. The Dupont family owned from 1910 until about 2000. They had over tripled it size, moved walls and had stucco on it. The Dupont family gave it to a foundation at the time of the last owner death. The foundation has restored it back the time of James and Dolley. The Duponts had saved everything they had removed.
