Lighthouses, Pirates and Boats

Today we visited three lighthouses on the Outer Banks on three different islands. I took a ferry ride and learn about Blackbeard. I took bunches of pictures of lighthouses for my Granny.

First lighthouse-Cape Hatteras

Here is where it used to be about 12 years ago. They had to move it 2500 feet because it was falling in the ocean. It is the tallest lighthouse.

This picture of the lighthouse is taken from where it used to be. Did you know they moved it on rollers.

Here I am waiting to see if they brought me something to eat. They went to the Froggy Dog.

Here is a grave of two English soldiers who ship was sunk by a German U boat.

Here I am in mom's hat.

Next time for ferry ride to Oracoke.

Here we go....

On deck

Waiting for the ride to be over.

Look we found a fan of Smokey

Once we got to Oracoke, I heard they have a breed of ponies that are only found here. They think either the British or Spanish brought them to the island.

Off to the next site, there is also a British cemetery on this island.

Here is the Oracoke lighthouse. It is the second oldest working lighthouse in the United states.

Next we headed to Teach's Hole. Did you know this is where Blackbeard was killed and his body minus his head was dumped.

Last stop of the day the Bodie Light

I stayed in the rv after I saw this sign.

For Mrs. Tanner they are selling corn.
